Kelagayi

Kelagayi is a silk kerchief handmade of untwisted threads with patterns printed with traditional method called “basmanakhish” i.e. hot batik. Usually, a kelagayi has square shape and sizes of 160х160 centimeters and 150х150 centimeters. From times immemorial kelagayi was worn both routinely and to celebrate occasions like wedding and mourning as well as birth of child or holidays, in strict compliance with the feature and meaning of a concrete situation. The color and coloring combination, features of the picture, type of the composition, tying method and the owner’s age had particular significance. Presently kelagayi is a method of the owner’s self-expression and fashionable accessory for any case of the life.
