Kelagayi is a silk kerchief handmade of untwisted threads with patterns printed with traditional method called “basmanakhish” i.e. hot batik.

In ancient period women and girls had hidden their hairs under “quarter” of kelagayi called “dinga” (presently we call it “little kelagayi” or “child’s kelagayi”) and worn big kelagayi over it. The sizes of dinga is consequently 80х80 centimeters or 75х75 centimeters.

Over 2000 years kelagayis have been prepared in quadrate form. But presently the craftsmen valuing the fashion prepare rectangular kelagayis – scarves with and without fringes. Their sizes usually are , 160х80 centimeters or 160х40 centimeters.
